Predicting Personality to be released worldwide on November 19; available now for pre-order
NASHVILLE, Tenn., October 9, 2019 – Crystal, a Nashville-based personality software company and a pioneer in the field of Personality AI, has announced its first global book release. “Predicting Personality: Using AI to Understand People and Win More Business” – which details the ways in which personality assessments and predictions can be used to improve professional and interpersonal communications – will be released worldwide on November 19 by publisher Wiley in both print and digital formats.
Crystal burst onto the scene in 2015 after young entrepreneurs Drew D’Agostino and Greg Skloot were ousted from Attend.com, the Boston tech company they started together in 2013.
“After that experience, we realized where we had gone wrong: focusing too much on product and process and not enough on people,” said co-author D’Agostino, CEO of Crystal. “More than anything else, focusing on people means paying attention to how you communicate with others. This book is a guide to improving interpersonal communication in and outside the workplace.”
Using breakout technology the founders call “Personality AI” – which uses artificial intelligence to predict anyone’s personality based on their answers to a questionnaire or existing information they created, like biographies, resumes and social media profiles – Crystal is able to provide personalized, situation-specific advice to communicate effectively. The start-up and its innovation have been featured in top media, such as Wired, the Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, CNN, HuffPost and Fortune.
“In today’s mobile-first world, anyone can dash off an email without much thought,” reported Fortune writer Erin Griffith upon Crystal’s launch. “A tool like Crystal forces the sender to think more about the person on the other side of the screen. It’s like spell-check for empathy.”
The Crystal application allows users to take an online test to determine their personality type using an expanded framework of the DISC profile, a leading personality assessment tool based around four main personality types: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness. Crystal’s revamp of the test can determine a user’s mix of personality traits with 95 percent accuracy. Once their type is determined, users can compare their profiles with others in their networks, download personalized personality reports, determine the jobs for which they are best suited and more.
Crystal software can also be used to scan social media profiles, resumes and other documents to determine – with 80 percent accuracy – someone’s personality type. The platform’s premium option offers detailed personality reports for individuals, groups, relationships, meetings and more, as well as coaching tools and unlimited text, resume and social media analysis, the latter via a Chrome extension.
“The idea is to use the information provided by Personality AI to make smarter choices and communicate more effectively,” said D’Agostino.
