Myers-Briggs ENTJ Energized at Work

ENTJ personality types feel energized at work when...

  • They are asked to assume bigger responsibilities.
  • Their boss values their input on decisions.
  • Their peers are deeply motivated and effective.
  • Their direct reports don’t need frequent instruction.

ENTJs tend to enjoy regularly working toward growth and taking on progressively bigger responsibilities. They thrive when their boss shows appreciation for their thoughts and opinions and their coworkers are motivated by a similar internal drive. They are also appreciative of independent direct reports who are able to get work done without specific, regular instruction.

ENTJs tend to enjoy working closely with others. They may feel bored or frustrated if their job requires them to work regularly in isolation. They thrive in direct environments, in which everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts openly.

Myers-Briggs ENTJ Drained at work

ENTJ personality types feel drained at work when...

  • They have to be highly sensitive to the feelings of others.
  • Their boss is irresponsible or unmotivated.
  • Their peers take things too personally.
  • Their direct reports need hands-on guidance.

ENTJs may feel drained if they have to regularly filter what they’re thinking. They want to be able to address problems directly and are likely to feel frustrated by environments that don’t allow them to do so. They tend to dislike bosses who don’t work hard to accomplish goals and peers who are too sensitive to listen to honest feedback. They’d rather work with people who can hear other coworkers out without taking it personally.

If they work in an environment that regularly drains them, ENTJs are likely to grow frustrated and move onto a different job. In order to keep them around, it’s important to give them space to be themselves.

ENTJs crave leadership roles and responsibility. They want to be able to motivate and inspire their coworkers. They are determined to achieve their goals and thrive in a position that encourages them to do so.
