ENTJ Weaknesses

Although ENTJs have many wonderful skills and strengths that can benefit everyone around them, they also have blind spots that can negatively impact them if left unchecked. If ENTJs don’t learn to manage or overcome potential areas of weakness, their strengths may be overshadowed and their positive impact dampened.

Myers-Briggs ENTJ Weaknesses

Weaknesses that are typically associated with the ENTJ personality type include...

  • Difficulty remaining patient when faced with stagnancy
  • Potential to be perceived as insensitive in emotional situations
  • Strictly following a plan or routine when flexibility is necessary
  • Being perceived as overly confident
  • Tendency toward assertiveness, which can be misunderstood as aggression

ENTJs may have a difficult time when things don’t progress. They tend to seek constant growth and are likely to feel frustrated if they stay at the same level for too long. However, they can learn to find the value in the lessons they learn through each phase of life, which may help them feel more comfortable in brief instances of stagnancy.

They may also come across as cold in emotional situations. ENTJs’ logic tends to overpower their empathy. With a bit of work, ENTJs can learn to develop more of an awareness to their speaking tone and adapt their communication depending on the situation.

ENTJs tend to follow plans to a T. They aren’t always very adaptable, which may negatively affect them in times of change. ENTJs are quick learners, though, and can become more accustomed to adapting the more they step out of their comfort zones.

They may come across as overly confident, at times, which can upset some people. To combat this, ENTJs should listen closely to others’ ideas and remain open to different perspectives. By showing that they’re able to hear other people out, their confidence is less likely to be mistaken for arrogance.

ENTJs tend to be naturally assertive, which may upset or offend someone who misinterprets it as aggression. However, ENTJs ability to honestly state their perspective can be especially beneficial to a group, since others won’t need to wonder what they’re thinking. To avoid upsetting people, ENTJs should avoid interrupting or pushing their opinions too far at the wrong times.

When ENTJs make the effort to recognize and overcome their blind spots, they can take steps toward self-improvement. Implementing small changes, one at a time, can lead to major growth and long-term development.
