How ENTP personality types like to work

Every personality has a different way of working and communicating with others. When you’re working with ENTPs, it’s important to discuss issues with them. Because they’re natural extroverts, they tend to enjoy working with others and processing their thoughts externally. By learning how to communicate with them in the workplace, you’re more likely to see ENTPs at their best.

Myers-Briggs ENTP Communicating

ENTPs may be very energetic in conversations. Try to engage with their excitement by offering your own perspective while listening and allowing them to share. Don’t worry if there’s a back and forth - ENTPs often love debates.

Myers-Briggs ENTP Meeting

Meeting with an ENTP personality type

Because ENTPs tend to have a “big picture” view of life, they don’t often enjoy focusing too closely on details. Try to discuss the grand scheme of things and allow them to connect with issues of importance to them. They may have a lot to add and will likely challenge what they don’t agree with, so be prepared for a lengthy, engaging discussion.

Instead of including a lot of small talk or introduction, keep emails straightforward and logical. Encourage ENTPs to share comments and concerns, though they will likely offer their thoughts regardless.

Myers-Briggs ENTP Feedback

Because ENTPs often enjoy in-person conversations, discuss feedback with them face-to-face. Keep it direct and to-the-point. They are unlikely to feel personally hurt by constructive criticism, but they may want to talk through it a bit.

Myers-Briggs ENTP Conflict

Resolving conflict with an ENTP personality type

ENTPs are usually comfortable with addressing conflict. Address it head-on, but be prepared to meet them at their energy level; you will likely need to match their intensity to be fully heard. Avoid taking what they say personally - they may let things slip out in the heat of the moment.

When you make an effort to communicate with ENTPs in a way that they like, you can build a better relationship, empathize with their perspective, and establish needed trust. Making simple adjustments to your communication style can mean a world of difference to understanding and working alongside each other.
